Braam is a qualified pre-military instructor who continues to improve his knowledge and skills. In January 2016 Braam attended an advanced field ranger training program at the Southern African Wildlife College near Hoedspruit. The course was one-on–one with Clive van Rooyen, arguably one of the top instructors in clan destine counter-poaching operations.
