Two of South Africa’s most well-known adventurers, Braam Malherbe and Peter van Kets are planning another epic adventure for January next year. Braam was of course the first person to run the entire length of the Great Wall of China, a feat that took 98 days – and Peter van Kets was the first African to row unsupported across the Atlantic, an journey of 5 438 kilometres that took 76 days.

In 2011 the two of them represented South Africa in a once-in-a-lifetime event; an unassisted race to the South Pole at approximately 83 degrees south, a distance of 768kms. They would be man-hauling
sleds weighing 88kgs in extreme winds and temperatures of -45Âş
The pair are setting off in a new mission now: rowing from Cape Town to Rio de Janeiro;
