Collecting plastic to create owl houses

Introducing DOT Stars! Every week I honour a person who is taking up the #DOTChallenge to Do One Thing every day and using their influence to be an asset for the planet.
My first DOT Star is Jenny’s Journey: Helping Our Turtles And Penguins
Jenny (5) from Cape Town Southern Suburbs COLLECTED OVER 46 CUBIC METERS OF PLASTIC since March 2018!

Jenni is Braam Malherbe’s first DOT Star

She started out by wanting to help save penguins and turtles from straws. She began by refusing straws and balloons. Jen learnt all about Bob the turtle who ate plastic (he’s at the Two Oceans Aquarium) and also grasped how plastic affects one of the penguins in the movie, Happy Feet. This is what inspired her to make a difference.

She was four when she started, but has now turned five.

She heard how Owl Rescue Centre use plastic to make owl nesting boxes and gives all her plastic to them.

Jenny is a great example of someone taking up Braam Malherbe’s DOT (Do One Thing) Challenge: use your personal opportunities and influence to make a commitment to a conservation cause or other charitable cause that you are passionate about. If we each decide to Do One thing (#DOT) every single day we can create an eco-movement of positive change for the planet.

What is DOT Star and the #DOTchallenge?

Braam Malherbe’s #DOT (Do One Thing) Challenge is to use your personal opportunities and influence to make a commitment to a conservation cause or other charitable cause that you are passionate about. If we each decide and commit to Do One Thing (#DOT) every single day we can create an eco-movement of positive change for the planet.

“My DOT Challenge is honouring people who are taking action for the planet. Every week we feature a DOT Star (kind of like a “rock star” for the planet): someone who is using their personal time and influence to make a difference to animals and the environment. If you think you are our next DOT Star, or would like to nominate someone please send your motivation plus photos to me via email or messenger.” - Braam Malherbe
