‘The BIG little things’

How does one keep going then, when obstacle after obstacle stand in your way?

Sometimes, seemingly small things can make a world of difference! Here are two that are especially dear to me and have often seen me through the gloomiest of days.

My father was a spitfire pilot in the 2nd world war; this after breaking his back and being told he would never walk again. Not only did he walk again but he ‘flew’ high and mighty. He flew because he believed so strongly in the

…he flew because he believed so strongly in the famous quote; “evil prevails when good men do nothing.” My dad was not a good man, he was a great man! I cherish his ‘wings’ which are pinned in this very cabin as I cross this mighty ocean.

Then, there is a little pebble that I cherish more than any diamond. My son, Benjamin, gave it to me in an envelope along with a letter at the airport before I left for China to run the Great Wall in 2006. He was 17 years old at the time and this pebble was his ‘lucky stone.’ He concluded his letter with these words; “Dad, look after my lucky stone and, whenever you touch it, remember how much you have to be greatfull for. Come home safely. I love you, Benjamin”.

I touch this stone every day. It is also with in the cabin…and I’m touching it now.
